Qualitative Analysis of Use of ICTs and Necessary Personal Competencies (Self-Efficacy, Creativity and Emotional Intelligence) of Future Teachers: Implications for Education

(1) Background: The acquisition of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) skills competencies has become enormously important in regard to the effective management studies or schooling. questions that guided this study were: What are future teachers’ perceptions regarding use new technologies teaching/learning? their opinions personal necessary appropriately make ICTs? purpose was discover teachers—current master’s degree students—regarding ICTs teaching/learning, as well involved best use, such self-efficacy, creative intelligence, emotional intelligence. (2) Methods: Three focus groups were conducted, comprising 27 graduate students. participants asked about knowledge ICTs, how they had acquired knowledge, attitudes when faced with a tool, whether considered themselves be creative, emotionally competent. (3) Results: data analyzed revealed different on for innovation, other factors academic professional performance. themes extracted: Training experiences ICT skills; Feelings experienced confronted an tool; Task-oriented competencies. identification these three enabled us extract eight sub-themes. (4) Conclusions: Professionals’ evident lack training makes it promote ICTs’ importance propose programs directed at teachers so can improve competencies, thus, better able prepare students, which, turn, would allow students master adequate them.
